From Baywatch to Bundy — Zac Efron has been cast to play Ted Bundy, one of the most infamous serial killers in history.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film, titled Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, will be told through the perspective of Bundy’s girlfriend, Elizabeth Kloepfer.
News of the casting decision was met with mixed opinions, as some people believe Efron’s good looks perfectly represent Bundy’s infamous charming nature, while others think the notorious comedy and musical actor won’t be able to handle such a dramatic role.

@enews Am I the only one who can't see him playing an evil character let alone a villain?

@enews I feel like this is a good move for Zac. I think that he might actually be able to pull this type of character off.

The actor most recently starred in the movie remake of Baywatch, in which he played a lifeguard. He has mostly acted in lighthearted films such as Neighbors and Hairspray, but got to show off his serious acting chops in movies like The Paperboy and The Lucky One.
He is currently promoting Baywatch, and recently posted an Instagram photo from the premier with co-star Dwayne Johnson.
Oscar-nominated filmmaker Joe Berlinger will lead efforts surrounding Extremely Wicked, and principal photography is set to begin October 9th, according the Hollywood Reporter.
