Death toll rises to 29 in California wildfires, hundreds missing

The massive wildfires sweeping through California has killed 29 people and damaged thousands of structures.

According to The Los Angeles Times, a majority of deaths have been reported in Sonoma County and crews continue to search through the ashes.

Video from a Sonoma Sheriff’s Department dash camera shows a deputy as he drives through the blaze.

ABC News reports the wildfires have charred more than 190,000 acres of land, damaging at least 3,500 structures and forced more than 20,000 residents to evacuate.

Officials say containment of the fire has increased and weather conditions are expected to improve over night.

The cause of the fires are still under investigation.
