Former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes has died

Roger Ailes, the media titan and political strategist, has died. Fox News announced Ailes’ death during their early morning Fox and Friends show.

Ailes resigned from Fox News last year following controversy over sexual harassment allegations. He was accused of sexually harassing several former Fox News employees.

His wife released a statement on her husband’s death. “I am profoundly sad and heartbroken to report that my husband, Roger Ailes, passed away this morning,” his wife, Elizabeth, said in a statement. “Roger was a loving husband to me, to his son Zachary, and a loyal friend to many. He was also a patriot, profoundly grateful to live in a country that gave him so much opportunity to work hard, to rise — and to give back.”

Fox News has morphed into a media power house 20 years after Ailes created the network in 1996 with the slogan “fair and balanced.”

Ailes was 77-years-old.
