Naked man on plane forces flight to turn around

A Seattle-bound flight from Anchorage was rerouted back to the Alaska city after a naked passenger barricaded himself in the plane’s bathroom.

It happened early Wednesday morning on an Alaska Airlines flight, KTVA reports.

A spokesperson for the airline said the plane took off at 1:25 a.m. local time and was carrying 178 passengers when it turned around “due to a passenger not following flight attendants’ instructions.”

A witness recorded a portion of the situation, which KTVA then shared on Twitter.

“We’re gonna ask that everyone deplane with their carry-on,” the pilot’s voice is heard saying in the video, as passengers confusedly begin removing their luggage from the overhead bins. The naked man is nowhere in sight.

The flight landed back in Anchorage around 2:25 a.m., where it was met by law enforcement officers who escorted the unclothed passenger off the plane.

No charges have so far been filed in the incident, but Anchorage airport police did transport the naked man to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.

Passengers said Alaska Airlines offered them a $150 flight credit to compensate the inconvenience.
