Oktoberfest events kick off around the ‘Burgh

The leaves are just beginning to turn, the evenings are chilly, football is back and so is Oktoberfest. Great food, cold beer and live music headline these German festivals around the ‘Burgh.

Here’s where you can find Oktoberfest this weekend:

For 19 years in a row, Canonsburg is holding the Pennsylvania Bavarian Oktoberfest. RabbleVID’s Veronica stopped by Pike Street to check out the setup.

Some of the highlights include:

Fireworks Friday night, 2 live stages of music and bands, German dancers, 2 beer wagons, food vendors, crafters, amusement rides and games. Well-known local bands are taking the stage as well. Ruff Creek plays Friday night and Bon Journey plays Saturday night.

Penn Brewery‘s Oktoberfest also starts Friday. According to event’s website, “Fest hours are 5:00-midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, noon to 10:00 pm on Sundays. Only guests age 21 and over are permitted at Oktoberfest after 8:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. We encourage you to dress in your finest lederhosen, dirndls, and alpine hats!”

The Hofbrauhaus Pittsburgh is also beginning their Oktoberfest Weekends Friday. The fun begins at 3 p.m. and includes music, beer, circus acts, face painting and more. There’s fun for all ages.

Green Tree Octoberfest is also this weekend. Events kick off at 11 am on Saturday and there’s so much to do all day long. There’s a car cruise, an appearance from the Pirate Parrot, a chili cookoff, music by Tony Janflone and so much more.
