Man charged in mosque attack near London

A vehicle struck pedestrians near a mosque in north London early Monday morning, killing one man and injuring 10 other people in what police are investigating as a terrorist incident.

According to the Associated Press, London police say the 47-year-old man who was driving the car has been arrested. He is charged with a terror offense.

Witnesses describe the chaotic scene.

The crash occurred at a time when the area was crowded with Muslims after Ramadan prayers.

Muslim leaders are calling it a hate crime, but asking the public to stay calm.

Police said the driver was detained by the crowd until police arrived.
