Rain turns to ice, snow to coat northeast Ohio

Hours of rain and dropping temperatures left northeast Ohio covered in a blanket of ice and snow, creating hazardous road condition that kept many drivers off roads.

Route 224 in Boardman, Ohio is normally busy with traffic, but the change in weather left the road nearly empty.

A day of mostly freezing rain turned into snow during the early evening, and lower temperatures made the water on the ground become sheets of ice.

Crews are treating the roads, but drivers are advised to be cautious while traveling or to stay indoors.
